Mike Cavlan
Michael Cavlan is a Registered Nurse specializing in burns, trauma, and intensive care. He is employed at Regions Hospital in St. Paul with their Burn Unit. Immediately after the events of September 11th, 2001 he volunteered and worked in Washington Hospital caring for the victims of the Pentagon attack.
A longtime media critic, Michael is an advocate for journalists of
integrity and stands in opposition to the corporate media consolidation,
which he considers "one
of
the greatest threats to our freedoms". He traveled to Ohio as an official in
the Green Party- and Libertarian Party- sponsored recount effort after the
controversial 2004 Presidential election.
Michael is a longtime peace activist, and since announcing his candidacy in October 2004, he has called for immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan. He has called for the closure of all permanent bases.
Michael is running for the U.S. Senate because of a lack of will within the current political system to fulfill the many dire needs of our society. He will speak for his constituents who have been marginalized, demonized, and otherwise shut out of the political system. This is a system which is owned by corporate interests and by political elites from both sides of the aisle.
